New central London route for Great Gorilla Run 2018

The route of the 2018 Great Gorilla Run has now been confirmed, with hundreds of fun-loving primate fans to jog, walk and crawl through the very heart of London on Sunday 23 September.

After a decade in the City of London, the iconic event has moved to the West End. To be held in partnership with King’s College London, the race will start at Temple Station, right next to the university. Runners will then follow the River Thames all the way along the Embankment, past the Tower of London to Tower Bridge.

After crossing Tower Bridge, the route once again follows the river. Running along the South Bank, participants will pass City Hall and the Tate Modern before crossing back over the river via the Golden Jubilee Bridge. From there, it will just be a short sprint finish back to Temple to complete the 8km circular route. Marshalls, identifiable in high-visibility vests, will be stationed along the route to help runners stay on course. Here’s the route in full:

As always, once all the gorillas have returned, a special prize-giving ceremony will be held. Here, prizes will be awarded for the ‘Best Dressed Gorilla’, as well as the biggest team and the runner who has travelled the furthest to take part. Additionally, once all the money has been counted, an award will be given for the biggest fundraiser.
